ESAB Establishes Two Education Awards
ESAB Canada has announced the development of two annual education awards effective in 2010. The deadline for applications will be August 31, and recipients will be announced in September. The recipients will be formally recognized at the Canadian Welding Association Conference in September 2010.
The ESAB Post-Secondary Scholarship Award is a one-time award of $1000.00 given to a student who chooses a career in welding and welding technology, achieved through post-secondary education, and demonstrates the potential to produce outstanding contributions to the field in the future. Selection will be based on academic achievement and a demonstrated interest in welding and welding technology. Candidates must be nominated by their instructor via a one-page letter describing the achievements of the student and why that student is a deserving candidate for the award.
The ESAB High School Excellence Award will be awards of welding equipment to three top welding schools. ESAB established this award to further support students who choose a career in welding/welding technology and the schools who help them achieve their goals by offering welding/welding technology courses as part of their curriculum. Selection will be based on a demonstrated interest in welding and welding technology. High school instructors may nominate their school via a one-page letter describing their programs, the achievements of their students and why they are a deserving candidate for the award.
